Movement workers need partners and spaces to learn, strengthen and practice mindset and narrative strategies. Our transformative workshops, coupled with one-on-one coaching, build the capacity, skills and leadership of movement workers to apply the science of social change on the ground with confidence.
-
SCIENCE OF SOCIAL CHANGE
This workshop introduces participants to three big ideas from social science for social change that are core to any movement campaign: Resonate, Connect, Motivate. Participants will learn the science behind these core ideas, illustrated with movement examples and identify opportunities to experiment with these ideas in their work.
-
RESEARCH FOR RADICALS
Movements are most effective when they ground work in research. You don’t need a lot of money or a PhD to do research in service of your movement goals. Participants learn radical research principles, how to design a research plan, methods to use on any budget and how to make meaning of data.
-
THINK LIKE A STRATEGIST
Building a just and liberatory future requires smart strategy. Movements can’t do everything and reach everyone at once. Participants learn how to craft a strategy rooted in a theory of change rooted in an analysis of systems and power, and that build on movement traditions and values. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a strategy in hand for their work.
-
MINDSET STRATEGIES
Mindsets are deeply held beliefs that shape individual and group attitudes and behavior. To engage different communities, we need to understand the mindsets we must navigate in the short-term and shift in the long-term. In this session, participants will learn the science of mindsets, how to identify different mindset types and how to build personas and messages tests to motivate communities.
-
NARRATIVE CHANGE STRATEGIES
Narrative change is large field of practice that spaces different disciplines, each with its own unique approach and contribution. In this session, participants are introduced to narrative change, the various approaches to narrative change and locate their own work within the larger ecosystem.
-
STORYTELLING FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
Storytelling is the most effective tool we have for building empathy and support for movements. Storytelling is both an art and a science. In this workshop, participants learn how to craft ethical, intersectional, systems stories to achieve movement goals.
-
HOW TO MEASURE NARRATIVE CHANGE
How do we know if our strategies are working? How can we build in learning to continuously improve our practice? In this workshop, participants learn a flexible framework for measuring narrative change that works across narrative approaches and budgets. Participants walk away with a measurement strategy ready to implement with their team.
-
1:1 COACHING
We believe that our workshops can only be effective with 1:1 coaching for movement workers to practice the frameworks and tools provided. Throughout the workshops selected, participants will meet with a coach to practice each of the activities and skills associated with the workshop. By the end, participants will have the confidence and experience to lead this work in their movements.
